Usually when we think of the road to becoming healthier the top things that come to mind require a lot of willpower. Things like eating less sugar, exercising more, drinking more water, etc. And while those are all great things we should be working on, today I want to take a slightly different approach and share 3 easy changes to a healthier lifestyle that don’t require willpower. Instead, you can simply replace items in your house with healthier items and be on your way to a healthier lifestyle!
Sometimes healthier changes/choices can be really simple and still yield big results.
3 Quick Changes to a Healthier Life
#1. Replace Your Salt
Your average table salt is bleached and devoid of good nutrients.
Replace the salt you’re currently using with a healthier sea salt. This is the sea salt that we use in our home, notice it’s “dirty” looking as opposed to bleached white table salt – that’s a good thing! It’s trace minerals that your body needs.
Here’s a great article if you want to read more about why salt is good for you as long as it’s a real salt.
#2. Drink Better Water
I have a daily goal of 3 quarts of water every day. It’s a habit I started when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter and I try to keep it up to this day.
But it goes to question, is the water we are drinking the best water for us?
Sadly, the answer is no.
In the book Naturally Knocked Up Donielle Baker talks about the quality of our drinking water. Here are just 2 quotes from her book.
Unfortunately, the truth is that many medications, including hormones, are finding their way into our drinking water.
Chlorine, also regularly found in the public water supply, was listed in the 1990 Clean Air Act as a ‘hazardous air pollutant,’ and is on the EPA’s Community Right to Know list. It was even used as a poison in World War I.

Because water is something we consume on a daily basis, improving the quality of your water is a must.
The best thing we can do is start filtering our water with a quality water filter, this is the one that we use in our home. While it is a higher upfront investment it pays for itself, it ends up cheaper per gallon than your average Brita filter: 8 cents per gallon as opposed to 25 cents (source: Mommypotamus).
And it’s a higher quality filter!
#3. Replace Your Soap
Replace the anti-bacterial soap you’re currently using with this healthier soap (we usually use unscented but the peppermint is a favorite as well).
You likely wash your hands 5-8 times a day, without thinking you use whatever soap is sitting there in the bathroom. But when you stop and actually look at what’s in your soap you might be surprised by the synthetic detergents and preservatives that you are rubbing on your hands multiple times a day.
Instead, quickly replacing the chemical filled soap you’re currently using with this castile soap ensures that you’re free of those synthetic detergents, preservatives or genetically modified ingredients.
Use these foaming dispensers, mix with one part castile soap and 3(ish) parts water.
Done! You are three steps closer to a healthier lifestyle! Your day-to-day life looks exactly the same just with healthier stuff!
