I’m trying not to blink. I’m trying to embrace every moment, but even so, my daughter keeps growing faster and faster. Sometimes as parents it’s hard not to feel that twinge of sadness as they hit each new milestone. I have noticed, however, it does help to do something special for each one of the milestones. Today we’re sharing 19 must-cherish moments in your child’s life, and for each of the moments we can do something, however small, to make our kiddo feel special. A huge thanks to Arm & Hammer™ Truly Radiant™ (our sponsor) for inspiring this post!
Print off the list and write a date next to each one as it happens. If you get a chance, snap a picture and write a small note about the moment too. You can later make a copy and give one to your child and store one away in a Family Smash Book.
Enjoy each moment. Stop and really breathe it in, as big or small as it is.
_________ 1. That first positive pregnancy test and each ultrasound and prenatal visit that follows.
_________ 2. The moment they are born.
_________ 3. The moment they first cry — there are so many more tears to be shed but the beauty of crying is you know your child is alive and there is so much to be thankful for.
_________ 4. Crawling, moving baby!
_________ 5. First tooth — and an ice cream reward for mom when she makes it through this first teething experience!
_________ 6. Graduating to the next size car seat.
_________ 7. First steps.
_________ 8. The day they first say “I love you”
_________ 9. The day they make their first friend.
_________ 10. The moment they tell you they want to marry mommy/daddy.
_________ 11. First day of school. I also love having the kids fill out a Draw & Describe Yourself Sheet and saving it away for later.
_________ 12. The day they learn to ride a bike.
_________ 13. Each and every birthday — write your kids a note/letter each birthday and put away in a special save box for when they get older!
_________ 14. And their half birthday’s too! It doesn’t have to be much, but doing a little something for them makes the memories! Click over to this post for 8 fun and simple ideas.
_________ 15. The day they get their driver’s permit.
_________ 16. The day they get their driver’s license.
_________ 17. Their high school graduation.
_________ 18. The day they move out — on this day I want to be happy that I did it. I raised a capable adult who is ready to spread their wings and fly!
_________ 19. Their wedding day — you’ve helped them start their forever family. And that’s what I call a #TrulyRadiantFinish!
And embrace all the little moment in between, too. There’s so many first you can add – for example, today my daughter had her very first “kids meal” at a restaurant and I almost teared up thinking about how she grown up she’s getting! You can squeeze dates and notes in between the numbers above. Play in the rain, go on ice cream dates . . . if you have an idea, DO IT, no matter how small it may seem! We will never regret doing too much with our kids.
Share your most radiant moment. . .
Arm & Hammer™ has partnered with City of Hope Cancer Treatment Center to launch a social media initiative encouraging women to share their radiant moments using #TrulyRadiantFinish across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. When I started thinking about my most radiant moment, I realized it wasn’t a moment at all – it was all my daughter’s moments combined that make up one big, priceless moment
Arm & Hammer is donating $1 to City of Hope for each time a #TrulyRadiantFinish hashtag gets used. We’d love to hear your radiant moment — join us June 4th at 9AM PST for the #TrulyRadiantFinish twitter party.
All moments are made better with a smile!
I’m loving the new Arm & Hammer Truly Radiant Spinbrush™ — the only manual toothbrush with a rotating head. How cool is that! The top of the toothbrush actually spins while you brush! I’m in love!
