Are you a gift giver? Second to quality time that’s totally my love language. I’m always thinking ahead and trying to find those perfect items for those I love! Sometimes I go a little overboard buying for others that I then have to go on a strike and not buy anything at all for myself, so I don’t break my bank. Until recently, that is, when I had this brilliant idea which would allow me to treat myself, too, without spending any extra money! {We have to spoil ourselves a little here and there, life’s too short not to, seriously!}
Here’s how: What I do is, whenever I buy gifts for others I make sure to use a credit card that has a rewards program. I buy everything just the same as I would before, just swiping my rewards credit card rather than any other card, then after the holidays {or whenever I need a treat} I login and use my rewards points on a splurge item! I love it because it comes with absolutely no guilt, it’s just a really fun treat that doesn’t cost me anything extra. Pretty cool, huh?
Imagine the possibilities.
Buy gifts for loved ones:
This year, we’re going simple, we’ve been trying hard to minimize our house and in an effort to keep up the momentum we’ve decided to minimize gifts, give less stuff and more memories. For example instead of toys we’re thinking things like trips, season passes, etc. I will, however, still grab some Read Aloud Books for Girly Q, she adores books and they are one of the few things we’re ok taking up a chunk of space in our house.
Then:
- Use your points in January on a de-stressing mini getaway with your husband — these are my favorites!
- Cash them in for a gift card or cash back and go on a shopping trip to your favorite store.
- Or stay in, in your pajamas, on your favorite couch and make a quick online purchase through your rewards store and enjoy knowing that in a few days the mail man will deliver your gift right to your door.
I’m starting to make myself a wish list to cash my rewards points towards: a new lens for my blogging camera and a Spring/Summer trip with the hubs! I’m curious, what’s on your wish list? Have you made one yet?
Start your rewards journey with Chase Ultimate Rewards:
- Ultimate Rewards is available to Chase Freedom, Chase Sapphire and Ink from Chase cardholders. When you use any of these cards, you earn points on every purchase {gas, groceries, utility bills, holiday shopping – you name it!}.
- Then head over to the newly redesigned UltimateRewards.com {it’s personalized! AND is so much easier to maneuver now!}, and redeem your points for travel, experiences, merchandise, gift cards and even cash back. The point system is simple, you can get cash back starting at $20 for 2,000 points. You can also opt for merchandise or gift cards with the same ratio because there’s no mark-up, you pay what you’d pay in store: i.e. a $50 product/gift card costs 5,000 points.
- Take advantage of the extra incentives that Chase is offering cardholders with Ultimate Rewards during the holidays. You can learn more at UltimateRewards.com!
