We love bedtime books! I’m a big advocate of reading to kids and childhood literacy. I don’t need a list off all the HUGE advantages to reading to your children, I’ve read to my daughter since she was 6 weeks old only simply because I loved to do it. I’m very grateful that she shares this love of reading and books. I wanted to share with you the 5 books that I have been reading to my daughter since she was a newborn {and still read!}. Here they are in no particular order:
My 5 Favorite Bedtime Books for Kids (of Any Age)
- Goodnight Moon. It’s sweet, makes no sense but the rhyming of the words has a hypnotic effect on little ones.
- Where is the Green Sheep. All kids love animals, and the sheep and sleep association is a classic.
- Russell the Sheep. We only met Russell about 2 years ago, but he’s a definitely a favorite. He can’t sleep and tries all sorts of things to slip off to slumber. The illustrations are engaging but not too stimulating and are a laugh for the Mummy or Daddy reading it.
- Runaway Bunny. The first time I read this, it brought tears to my eyes. All about the everlasting love of a Mummy bunny and the lengths she’ll go to wrap her baby bunny up with love.
- Madeline. This was one of my favorites as a little girl and sure, I may have strategically missed a few pages when reading it to my daughter when she was very young, but she pays me back now by making me read it to her 3 times in a row.
Connecting with your children through beautiful stories is one of the great gifts we can give to them. Do you have a favorite bedtime book, come tell us over on Facebook!
