I’m shocked — my almost 2 year old is already a bottomless pit! I didn’t think that happened till the teenage years. Thankfully my friend reminded me of a little trick that I’d forgotten: protein. It’s amazing how much one little change of adding more protein to meals and snacks can help. My daughter is going longer between snacks and I’m spending less time in the kitchen now! One of our new favorite snacks is chicken quesadillas. Rather than crackers, that only fill her belly for 10 minutes, these chicken quesadillas keep her full for a good 2 hours — HUGE win in my book! We’ve found HORMEL® Premium Chicken Breast is an easy way to add great-tasting, satisfying protein to our snacks. Plus it’s delicious, affordable and I feel better about what she’s eating. The best part is, even though chicken quesadillas are an out-of-the-box snack idea, they only take a few minutes to cook up!
Snacks Outside of the Box: Best Chicken Quesadillas
Ingredients
- HORMEL® Premium Chicken Breast
- Shredded Cheese
- Tortillas
- Garlic Salt
Directions
1. Open the cans of Chunk Chicken and quickly drain them. 2. Warm up your griddle while you get the rest of your ingredients ready. Once warm sprinkle the Chunk Chicken, cheese, and garlic salt between tortillas. Let it crisp till lightly brown and then flip! 3. Get out the cookie cutters — this is our favorite part! My daughter LOVES chicken quesadilla stars because she can bite off each of the stars’ tips one at a time. That’s it! Let the kids (and yourself) enjoy the snack and then enjoy the peace that follows as your kids play happily on FULL bellies!
