Summer is fun, exciting and absolutely a blast! But it’s also exhausting, especially if you have a kiddo that loves the term, “Mom, I’m bored.” The beginning of summer starts off all gung ho with organized activities, smiles, laughter an excitement, the middle of summer starts to get long, your kids drag their feet around the house while you try to think of things for them to do. Often times this leads into the end of summer being a total bust. To avoid that this year, we’ve listed 5 awesome activities to reignite the fun and end summer with a grand finale of fun! Huge thanks to the Visa Clear Prepaid program and the Walmart MoneyCard® Reloadable Prepaid Visa® Card for sponsoring this post of things to do before summer’s end!
Note: If you have little kiddos, like me, or homeschool and have kids who continue to stay home with you after summer is over then it’s even more important that we help define the summers for them so they can look back and remember them and look forward to them year after year!
5 Ways to End Summer with a Bang!
1. Camp out in the living room. If you have a later summer bedtime, that’s perfect, if not this is the perfect night to extend it! Pop the popcorn, grab some movies and make it a double feature. Pitch a tent in the living room, create a fort or just load up tons and tons of blankets and sleeping bags on the floor. Whatever you do make sure it’s something over the top so it’s memorable.
2. Choose between a root beer float night or make your own ice cream sundaes — or better yet, do both, each on a different night.
3. Hit the pool! Or the beach if you’re lucky enough to have one close by. You may have already been several times or maybe you promised you’d get around to it but never did. Either way, get the suits on and go. Pack some delicious snacks or stop for ice cream after.
4. Water fight. You’ll need: water balloons, sprinklers, water guns and every member of the family, that includes you mom! And make sure you have something yummy to enjoy afterwards: watermelon, ice creams bars, popsicles, etc! For even more outdoor water ideas check out this post: 7 totally awesome water play ideas for kids.
5. Let the kids decide! Ask them what is the one thing they really, really want to do before the end of summer and school starts back up for the older ones? My daughter’s favorite is the good ole’ park.
To help you budget, we’ve made sure most of these ideas cost little to none, and to help with the rest of the cost consider loading a specific amount onto a Walmart MoneyCard® Reloadable Prepaid Visa® Card that is specifically for summer fun and nothing else. Loading a card is easy, we stopped by Walmart, purchased a card from their Money Center, and then had my cashier load it for me with my designated amount. The card is perfect because it clearly communicates all fees and if your card is lost or stolen you won’t have to worry, funds are protected by Visa’s Zero Liability Policy.*
*Visa’s Zero Liability Policy covers U.S.-issued cards and does not apply to certain commercial card transactions, or any transactions not processed by Visa. You must notify your financial institution immediately of any unauthorized use. For specific restrictions, limitations and other details, please consult your issuer.
When there’s only a few days left of summer see what’s left on your card and do something as big as you can afford with what’s left! Have a lot left, head to an amusement park! Have just a couple bucks left, go to the coffee shop for hot chocolate and pastries.

I love that little tent in the living room. I want to make a tent in my daughters bedroom for her. I have so much I need to do in her room.
