Today, I’m super excited to share with you an interview all about how to work from home blogging.
You guys all know that I run this blog as my full-time stay-at-home job but I thought it might be fun to get another perspective too. I have one of my close blogger friends, Jackie from I Heart Arts & Crafts, with me answering some frequently asked questions about blogging and how to start. She’s been blogging for less than 3 years, writes about kid crafts and activities and made roughly $45,000.00 on her blog last year.
If you’re looking to work from home with flexible hours this may be for you.

Work from Home Blogging Interview
Why did you decide to start a blog? I actually started it as more of a hobby because I was home with my first born and wanted some kind of creative outlet. After realizing that I could turn this hobby into a full time business I started monetizing and setting goals. Because who doesn’t want to be their own boss, while staying home and spending time with your family!
How long did it take you to start making? 6 months was about the time I started seeing a steady part time income.
How much time do you work each week? It depends, during the summer I work less usually around 20 hours a week. And during back to school and the holidays I work 25-30 hours a week.
What does the day in the life of a blogger look like? In the morning I try to wake up before the kids so I have time to check emails and schedule out social media. Then while my son’s in preschool and my daughter naps I work or if my daughter skips nap time we craft and I take photos for the blog. I try to work on the computer while the kids are awake. So I spend the rest of the day day with the family and by the time the kids are in bed I stay up to work for 2-3 hours.
What would you do differently if you were to start again? I’ve learned the power of a good photo so if I could go back I would have invested in a DSLR earlier!
How did you decide on your name and niche (topic of your blog)? I just went with what I love (literally) www.iheartartsncrafts.com. I wanted to write what I was passionate about and I’ve always been crafty but when I HAD kids I loved sharing that with them.
What are your favorite and least favorite parts about blogging? My favorite part is being able to be home with my children, doing what I love while still being able to provide for my family.
How much did it cost to start your blog and how much does it cost each month to run? When I started I had the cheapest hosting plan and used a free layout. Each month it cost me about $10.
Any tips if someone was starting a blog today? Stay true to yourself and your voice. Don’t compare your success to another bloggers success. Usually we’re comparing our beginning to someone else’s middle. So avoid it by building your blog with quality content that is uniquely your own.
