I have a great post ahead for you but first, I have one question. One question that might just change your life. Take a moment and think…
Where do I want to be in 3 years?
This specific question is significant for many reasons (I’ll get to that in a second) but first figure out your answer and then read this…
3 years ago my husband was working a regular 8-5 job and I was in between jobs trying to figure out what I really wanted to do with my life. I could go get another job but where would that take me.
That’s when I started this blog. I wanted to test if you could make money blogging or not.
I had a passion that I wanted to share with the world, I love my family and am always looking for ways to make more memories and spend more quality time together. And I love encouraging other moms to do the same.
One year later my “little” part-time blog started steadily making more than my husband’s full-time job. I was shocked!
18 months after starting my husband quit his job and now we both work from home! My blog that is all about spending more time with the family was now going to allow our family to spend even more time together!
I’m not big into Karma or superstition but I do believe when you put good into the world, good comes back to you.
If your thinking about starting a blog, I encourage you to try it. The only way to live without regrets is to do the things you’re heart is calling you to do.
But aren’t there already a lot of blogs out there?
I almost didn’t start a blog because I thought the blogging world was oversaturated. And in a way it was. But in a more important way it wasn’t. The thing that no one tells you is that less than 20% of people who start blogs ever make more than $100.
While that sounds like bad news, that’s actually the great news. There is always room for someone willing to put in the work. That means that if you are determined you can quickly rise above the oversaturated level and get into the elite level that is making good money working from home.
If you’re thinking about starting a blog, don’t just start a blog, start a successful blog.
The best way to quickly get to where you want to go is to use a road map or a guide. If you want to start a profitable blog, I created a course just for that.
Successful Startup is a step-by-step guide on how to start a blog the right way – walking you through every single detail, from deciding the perfect blog name to getting your first paycheck.
Learn what works and avoid struggling for months on what doesn’t. The course is a fast track – getting you where you want to go quickly and efficiently. You’ll know what to spend your time on (and what not to waste your time on) so you can get to the money-making stage pronto.
Now, remember the question I asked you at the beginning of all of this.
Where do I want to be in 3 years?
In 3 years, if you and I got together for coffee (which is a real possibility!), what do you want your life to look like? Where do you want to be? What kind of success and accomplishments will you be able to tell me about?
3 years is significant because 3 years is not that long. Big change and awesome possibility can be in your future in a short amount of time.
I know a lot of people plan for 5, 10, 15, 20+ years in the future and while those are all good things I also like to plan for less. If I can make something happen in 3 years instead of 10, why wouldn’t I?
If you want to shorten the time to get to your goal, here’s what you need to do:
- Know your goal — have a concrete goal and write it down in detail.
- Always ask yourself are you headed towards your goal? If you ever catch yourself headed in the wrong direction, instantly stop, revaluate what you’re doing and PIVOT. (PIVOT. PIVOT. PIVOT. Who here watches Friends? Gah! I love Ross. But seriously, if you aren’t headed towards your goal, pivot.)
