Looking for a shape sorter but don’t feel like buying one? That was me! So we decided to make our own homemade 3D shape sorter and you can too! Half the fun is putting it together and the other half is playing with it once it’s done. All you need is a box, it can be an old shoe box, a thicker cereal box or we used this super adorable box from our latest Zullily order. {We might be just *slightly* obsessed with Zullily.}We’ve made it easy and provided you with a free printable for making your 3D shapes. {For more free printables join our email newsletter.}
If you have older kids you could put them in charge of making everything for the younger sibling to play with. Cut, fold, tape and your shapes are ready! I then traced around each shape on the box and cut an extra quarter of an inch around where I traced to make the hole big enough. That’s it, it’s time to play with your new 3D shape sorter!
This post is apart of the Everyday Fine Motor Material Blog Hop. We are just one of 26 posts each with a different fine motor project for each letter of the alphabet. The goal is to use materials you already have around the house like ours, X for BOXES!
