We’ve rounded up our favorite designs for inexpensive, custom-made, DIY mugs! Some are kid-friendly projects, and others would make a great craft for a Moms’-night-in or a baby/wedding shower!

Before you get started, a few helpful tips:
- Cheap mugs work best due to the inexpensive glaze used. These mugs here seem to be popular for DIY mug projects.
- Put mugs in COLD oven, then turn oven to 450 (not 350). AFTER oven reaches temp, bake for 30 minutes.
- Leave the mugs in the cooled oven overnight.
- If you have trouble with fading or rubbing off, try a different type of marker/paint pen. I’ve seen everything recommended, from plain sharpies to oil-based sharpies, regular paint pens to porcelain paint pens. Start with one, and figure out what works best with the mug you bought!
