A great reminder that there is nothing in life more important than love and relationship. We live in a society that is too busy, it’s time to slow down and cherish the small moments.Â
Studies have shown that a simple 20 second hug will add happiness to your day. How? Through the love and happiness hormone called oxytocin.
Most people automatically assume we are talking about either labor or breastfeeding when they hear oxytocin. And while both are accurate assumptions, they are not the only ones to be made. The truth is oxytocin is available for everyone not just new moms.
Ready for some added happiness in your life, give the hug a try! But be warned that as simple and easy as it sounds the 20 second hug actually takes some practice and some getting used to.
The 20 Second Hug
Start counting and you will realize that it’s longer than you think. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. 16. 17. 18. 19. 20! Throw in a M-i-s-s-i-s-s-i-p-p-i between each number and suddenly it seems like an eternity. But an eternity hugging someone you love is a pretty nice place to be, slow down your life a little so you don’t miss it.Â
Seriously, you can do it, slow down. Enjoy the moment and enjoy some hugs with your family.
