Don’t have 20 minutes to exercise? No problem.
Instead exercise one minute at a time — yes, you read that right! Use this list of 1 minute exercises to incorporate throughout your day! No more excuses.
1 minutes exercises
1. Calf lifts while cooking dinner.
Lift up on the balls of your feet, hold for half a second, come down and repeat.
2. Squat while you move the laundry.
Grab a handful of wet clothes from the washer, squat, throw them in the dryer, repeat.
3. Leg lifts when sitting.
Eating dinner? Paying bills? Replying to emails? Do some leg lifts while you’re sitting. One leg at a time, lift off the floor, straighten your leg until it’s parallel with the floor — up and down 15 times with each leg.
4. Balance & stretch your quads while brushing your teeth.
Standing on one foot, life the opposite foot so your ankle touches your bottom. Hold for 20 seconds on each leg.
5. Take some deep breaths.
Use your phone as a reminder to take some deep breaths. Breathe deeply oxygenating your body whenever your phone buzzes with a text. Take a deep breath in, pause, exhale completely.
6. Wall sit while you fold laundry.
Putting your back against the wall, bring your legs out so they are in a 90 degree sitting position. Hold this position while you fold 3-5 pieces of clothes, rest and repeat.
7. Lunge while you pick up toys.
8. Jump in place for 30 seconds.
9. Stretch your arms while playing with the kids.
Playing a board game? While it’s their turn, lift your left arm over your shoulder and touch your shoulder blade. Use your right arm to push the elbow until you get a nice stretch. Repeat with the opposite arm.
10. Rotate your wrists and ankles while you check your Facebook.
11. Replace your chair with a yoga ball.
Great for strengthening your core while you sit.
12. Set the timer for 1 minute at a time and stretch on the floor with your kids.
Sit with your legs out in front of you and try to touch your toes or do a few push-ups or planks.
13. Turn up the music!
There’s something about music that just gets your body moving, we keep something up beat going in the background. {Or go all-in and have a dance party with the kids.}
1 minute at a time! That’s all it takes to start toning your body! Pick one and start right now.
