Middle of November marked 33 months of blogging. I still remember it like it was yesterday, chatting with Corey about my dream of starting a blog and then deciding to actually go for it. I was nervous, excited and curious to see what would come of it. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine it would become the sole income of our family.
Because it’s been such a life changer for us, I enjoy sharing my income reports to help inspire others moms who are thinking about starting a blog. It’s totally doable to make money on one, even if you aren’t tech savvy (I wasn’t at all when I started). At the end of the post I have a super easy to follow tutorial if you’re wanting to start your own blog.
In November 2016, I made $5,941 blogging.
Every month I get so excited as I total up the income for the month. I am proud of November. Even though it was lower than our average, it’s still great considering we were traveling and working less.
Let’s compare it to the month before.
October 2016: $4,656
November was up $1285 — I’m obviously super excited about this.
Total this year so far: $75,193
Total all-time blog income: $164,783.19
I’m hoping to find an easy way to start tracking how many hours I work each month for reference sake. The last few months our personal life has been sooo busy, so blogging hours have been way down. I’m excited to see our income increase significantly in 2017 after we finish this move and settle into our new city.
Where Does the Income Come From?
Affiliate Income: $797 — This is income I earn by recommending stuff I adore — companies give me a small percent as a thank you for referring customers to them. And the price of the product is the exact same for my readers.
Display Ads: $3,064 — These are the advertisements that you see on my site in the sidebar, etc.
Sponsored Posts and/or Social Shares: $850 — If you are a blogger looking for sponsored posts, 2 great companies to get started with are IZEA and TapInfluence.
175 Best Date Ideas: $561 — The book I wrote in month 24 of blogging while I was on “maternity leave” with my second child.
Successful Startup: $669 — This is my course where I teach others how to create successful, money-making blogs super quickly and efficiently.
Minus expenses and setting aside a portion for taxes since we are now self-employed.
All-in-all a great month and I could not be happier.
