You guys know how much we love forts if you’ve seen our Ultimate DIY Forts post. We’re here to add 3 more ideas to the list!
You can see them best in this video…
1. The Simple Table Fort
Or as I like to call it, “How Mom Builds a Fort.”
I love this when I’m cooking dinner because it buys me a few minutes of peace as the kids play in their exciting “new space” and it literally only takes me 30 seconds to make and break down.
2. The Deluxe Living Room Fort
AKA, “How Dad Builds a Fort.”
Every sheet, every blanket, all the couch cushions, all the chairs and it seems to take over the entire living room, if not more. The kids have a grand old time in these forts!
We love using these “dad forts” as a great excuse for mini adventures – we’ll watch movies, eat picnic lunches and more inside these forts.
We love to joke about the difference between the mom fort and the dad fort!
But all jokes aside, regardless of the fort type, forts are a great way to bond with the kids and encourage creativity and imagination.
3. A Lasting Closet Fort
Unlike the other two, this one is awesome because it can stay up for days, weeks, or even months if you want! We used my daughter’s closet but you can also use a corner of a room or a child’s bed with a canopy and multi-colored lights creating a nook.
We draped curtains as a gorgeous backdrop and strung Enbrighten Seasons Color Changing Café Lights for a fun “enchanted” affect. The lights were a huge hit! My kids will literally just sit there and watch the lights as they change colors. I’m also thinking about stringing these same lights outside, either for a cool outdoor kid’s space or on the front porch for all of us to enjoy.
We also added current favorite toys to this fort, a little blue chair, a dollhouse, etc. We kept the toys limited because my kids seem to entertain themselves best when there are less options.
