We just celebrated Mother’s Day but my oldest is only two. Two tiny, little years old, She snuggled me and smooched me but she doesn’t really know what Mother’s Day is yet. My husband made sure it was a special day, but that’s not really his job.
I set zero expectations for the day because, let’s be honest, my kids don’t even know what a holiday is yet, let alone Mother’s Day.
I was still curious to see what, if anything, my little gang could come up with and I started wondering. But that’s when I realized something, I had Mother’s Day all wrong.
It’s not about me, it’s about us.
Sure, it’s a little about me but without my 2 tiny little people “mom” wouldn’t even be a term used to describe me. Unlike a birthday, Mother’s Day is about a relationship, the connection, the bond between me and the little people who make me “mom” day after day.
In honor of Mother’s Day this year, I’ve decided to spend extra time with my favorite little people. Starting with my daughter, the gorgeous little girl who first made me “mom.”
A Day with My Girl — Mommy & Me Minnie Mouse Day
Ever since little brother arrived 4 months ago, my sweet little girl has been ever so patient and sweet but I can tell she is missing mommy time. So, her and I headed off to Walmart to stock up on some Disney Junior Minnie Mouse items. Since my daughter is my “MinnieMe” and absolutely adores Minnie Mouse it was the perfect surprise!
First, we browsed the Minnie Mouse outfits — my daughter’s eyes lit up at everything. I tried asking which one was her favorite but she just screamed yes at everything! We finally ended up with Minnie Mouse Toddler Girl 2-Fer Dress, Minnie Mouse Toddler Girl T-Shirt Dress and the Minnie Bow-Tique Fancy Bows Dress with Headband.
Next, we stopped by the toys and grabbed a Disney Minnie Bowtastic Kitchen Playset. Finally, we grabbed some juice boxes and crackers and then headed home to play!
We had an absolute blast, my sweet little girl is just like me and thrives on quality time!
At the end of the night when she headed off to bed, I looked over and saw the big Minnie Mouse mess and smiled at myself. This is what’s being a mom is all about, us not me.
