I’m thrilled to be working with Minute Maid® today and sharing with you that you are doing a better job parenting than you think!
To the mom trying to do it all,
Even though we don’t know each other we have a lot in common, running ourselves thin, day after day, because we want the very, very best for our kids. We do too much and end our days utterly exhausted. And when we aren’t busy doing something we’re thinking of the 100 things we should be doing.
We read the quotes on Pinterest and Facebook about slowing down and taking the moments to breath it all in, and we try, we really do try. If we don’t stop for long enough we beat ourselves up that we need to breath in the moments more but if we stop for too long the perfectly run system we keep will crash down around us.
Then, one day, someone stops you and asks:
“How are you doing as a parent on a scale of 1-10?”
It catches you off guard, but you rattle off a number between a 7 and an 8. You’re doing a good job parenting, but not anywhere near perfection. You wish you had more hours in the day to spend with the kids. You wish you could figure out a way to be a little more organized. You wish. You wish. You wish. I know because I wish too.
But then the follow up question,
“If your daughter was living the very same life… how would rate her?”
10, no question asked! The only piece of advice you would give her is to doubt herself less.
The same words ring true for you and me.
It’s a thing known as perfect imperfection.
The only way to fail is to stop. Sure, it wouldn’t hurt for us to slow down a little bit, but we are doing it well. Being a mom is hard… but we are doing it. You are doing it! Don’t stop. Don’t stop being you.
Check out this new video from my friends at Minute Maid®. Share it with the friends and family in your life who could use a reminder that they, too, are doing a great job as a parent. This video brought me to tears, I have a feeling you’ll love it too.
Put Good In. Get Good Out.
Don’t stop being you, perfect imperfection.
