Happy Mother’s Day! I’ve been waiting for this day. It’s my first official mother’s day, second if you count last year when I was pregnant.
I’m a newbie to motherhood and I’m counting on all you experience and seasoned mother’s to help me along, to share your wisdom. I’ll be the first to admit that I need you. I may have started this blog to share my thoughts but now I keep writing so that I can hear yours.
It’s amazing how much can change in the course of a year. This time last year I was taking a nice steamy shower, I had all the time in the world to shave my legs, I was able to fix my hair without interruptions and my make-up routine was a lot more complex. Now I’m lucky if I get to shower alone, let’s not talk about how often I shave my legs, my hair has become all too familiar with the bun, and my make up routine has changed to one word: mascara.
The trade has been worth it. I now have chubby cheeks to kiss and a little person that’s barely 2 feet tall to snuggle with. I love her more than I ever knew I could love a little person. It’s beyond incredible and I love being a mom.
I imagine there will be many challenges in the next 17.5 years as she grows through childhood. I would ask you to warn me but maybe you shouldn’t, it might be better to just take it as it comes.
I’m excited to announce that today marks the beginning of The Ultimate Guide to Baby’s First Year, a blog hop with 40+ mom bloggers (including our favorite, The Realistic Mama)! You’ll learn everything you need to know about that first year, you’ll find some awesome new blogs to follow and enjoy a fabulous giveaway:

And now a funny story: Last year, for Mother’s Day, Corey took me out for breakfast but the wait was so long that pregnant me had to eat snacks outside the restaurant while we waited. But my favorite memory from that day was the waiter offering me a to-go orange juice but then giving me an empty cup, you know in case I have a gallon of orange juice hanging out in my car that I needed a cup for.
Did you celebrate mother’s day while you were pregnant with your oldest? I’m incredibly curious, tell me in the comments or over on Facebook. I’m also wondering how everyone celebrates Mother’s Day, do you have a tradition or do something different every year? Visit Alida | The Realistic Mama’s profile on Pinterest. Congratulations on your first “official” Mother’s Day! Like you, we celebrated prior to baby’s official arrival :). Actually, my mother-in-law has given me “Happy Future Mother’s Day” cards every year (either since we got married or even engaged, I don’t recall).
