Baby is on the way!
It’s time to double check that you have everything you need. You’ve probably been scouring Pinterest to make sure you didn’t miss anything. Well, I’m here to tell you less is more. Baby stuff can accumulate fast if you’re not careful, invest in a few quality pieces that you will use on a daily bases (there’s no need for every gadget on the market). Grab the essentials and call it good.
And the best part: you can grab all of these essentials in the same place! I love when you can hit 2 birds with one stone (or in this case 5 birds!). Save time and money and shop at Baby Depot at Burlington (a Realistic Mama sponsor) — they carry all the trusted brands we love at the best prices every day.
Every mom’s essential list is going to look a little different. See my 5 favorites and then tell us your 5 for a chance to win a $50 Baby Depot gift card (see details below).
5 Must-Have Baby Items for the Minimalistic Mom
Car Seat
We had our daughter at home, but for many new parents, who have their baby in the hospital or a birthing center, the carseat is one of the first things they use! And for all us home birthers we’ll be using the car seat soon enough, so we definitely need a good one too!
Baby Carrier
I can not say enough good things about baby carriers! They were a life-saver with our little girl. She had a lot of tummy issues her first few months and wanted to be constantly held, being able to hold her and still have my hands free helped me keep my sanity!
Every mom’s baby carrier preference is going to be different. Plus each baby has a different preference too! Ask a few friends what they liked, maybe even see if you can borrow one to try first.
Stroller
Every mom needs a good stroller. Your stroller’s style will depend a lot on your personality. I love a stroller that is easy to collapse and take up the least space possible but I’ve also been eyeballing the ever popular jogging stroller too — a great way to lose some of that new baby weight.
Glider – perfect for bonding!
There is something incredibly soothing for both mom and baby just rocking back and forth in a glider together. You can never snuggle too much.
Swing
We use our swing daily! I love snuggling and baby wearing but there are times when mama needs a break. The swing has been a life saver when cooking dinner, showering, or just needing to take a few breaths by myself.
I love this portable swing by GRACO. Not only is it easy to take with us when we go visit grandma, it also folds up and is stored easily in the closet when not in use.
