Phew – the holidays are over! But how can you organize and declutter your home to start the New Year on the right foot? You can join me in Glad’s 31 in 31 Challenge, by giving away 31 items, one for each day of the month of January!
This project to declutter your home has so many benefits! First, you are getting unnecessary stuff out of your home, which will make it easier to keep clean year round. Second, your donation to a local charity will help someone who is in need and continue that giving spirit we all feel during the holidays. And lastly, cutting that clutter at home is going to improve your stress and help you start the new year on a high note!
So, get a yellow Glad bag and join me as I go through my house and get rid of clutter!
I’m starting with my closet . . .
Use these questions to help you declutter:
1. Does it still fit? Don’t save clothes for when you lose weight – instead, plan to reward yourself with new things when you lose those 10 pounds!
2. Have I worn it in the last 12 months? I finally got rid of scarves I haven’t worn since college!
3. If I saw it in a store now, would I buy it? This helped me eliminate some dated jewelry, belts, and other accessories.
4. Is it damaged? I have a box of mending projects and every 3-6 months, I donate everything in it. If I didn’t mend it in that time, I probably didn’t really wear it that much!
I love how Glad is inspiring people to donate to those in need through the Glad to Give program. Glad noticed people using its products to collect donations for their local charities because the stretchable strength of ForceFlex bags can handle 20 plus pounds of items like clothing and toys.
This program now supports giving opportunities through marketing efforts, cash donations to charities including One Warm Coat and Habitat for Humanity, and by making giving easier with information on free donation pickups nationwide via a partnership with Donation Town.
Visit GladtoGive.com to receive a bag to your home to fill and donate to the charity of your choice! And don’t forget to use #GladtoGive to join the movement on social media.
