Looking for extra income?
Here’s how I made over $30,000 blogging part-time last month…
4 years ago, I decided to start a blog/website to help other moms.
I figured I would try it and see what happened.
It now provides for our family—we’ve been able to travel, save for our first home, and spend more time as a family because of it.
The awesome part about this particular side business (besides the fact it makes over full-time income with part-time hours) is that you’re creating PASSIVE income and can be done from ANYWHERE.
Each month, I like to share an income report with you to help show you how it’s done.
If you’re interested in starting a blog, I have a (free) step-by-step tutorial on how to start a blogging side business(no tech knowledge required)!
MAY INCOME REPORT BREAKDOWN:
There are tons of ways to make money blogging! The most common ways are ads (Google Ads are fairly simple to set up when you first start), affiliate income (amazon affiliates, affiliate others’ ebooks, etc.), sponsored posts, your own products, etc. I’ve made money through all these streams and at different times I focus my time differently on each category. I recommend trying them and seeing what works best for you. When I first started I used to do more sponsored posts than I do now, lately I’ve been focusing on my own products more.
Here’s how I made $31,464 in May blogging PART-TIME…
Advertisement Income: $1963 (I stared on Google Ads but once I hit 100,000 pageviews a month I switched over to AdThrive)
Affiliate Income: $23,225 (Affiliate income is when I recommend a product I love and when a reader makes a purchase I make a commission at no additional cost to them—it’s a win for everyone and fun)
Sponsored Posts and Sponsored Social Shares: $30
My Book—175 Best Date Ideas: $422 (Creating my first book wasn’t as hard as a I though. I took some of my blog content on the subject, added some more and then self-published my first book with the help of Amazon Createspace)
Our Blogging Course—Successful Startup: $5823 (We’ve had so many people ask us how we make money blogging—so I created a step-by-step course on how to create a profitable blog. Successful Startup has tutorials about setup, monetization, newsletter, social media, growing your blog and more. Learn more here.)
Not to mention, I only work part-time on the blog. I try to keep it under 20 hours a week.
Note: I do set aside a percentage of all my income to pay taxes and blog expenses.
I have a (free) step-by-step tutorial on how to start a blog (no tech knowledge required).
Successful Startup is our best selling course on the step-by-step roadmap to a profitable blog.
UPDATE: We also just released our latest course, Advanced Blogging Strategies, on how to scale your blog to six figures (working part-time).
MY THOUGHTS ON THIS MONTH:
Wow. We increased our income over $12,000 compared to last month—that’s significant. The crazy thing is, I am actually working less hours than I was before.
The last few months, I spent my time learning Facebook ads and creating a sales funnel and now that it’s all implemented and profitable I’m able to work less and make more.
I’m learning more and more that there really is no income cap in blogging, it’s just knowing the right things to focus on and in what order.
Update: Our new course, Advanced Blogging Strategies, teaches you how to get started with Facebook ads in your business (and more). If you have a blog and are looking to increase your income, learn more about Advanced Blogging Strategies here.
May was a great month. I am very happy with how much we made and the things that we focused on.
I continue to be so thankful I took that step of faith 4 years ago and started a blog. I still remember the first cents (less than a dollar) I made on ads (that was the moment I knew it was possible to really make money blogging). Each month since it has grown and grown.

In 5 months, we have already made more this year than last year’s grand total. Facebook ads has been a HUGE part of that—I have learned not to simply “boost posts” but instead use the Facebook ad manager to make sure my ads are profitable. I’m making about $5 for each $1 I am spending right now!
UPDATE: 2018 was a big year of growth for us—we created a course called Advanced Blogging Strategies to share the 4 core strategies (including Facebook ads) we used to scale our income so significantly while still working part-time! Learn more here.
ALL TIME GRAND TOTAL:
Since starting the blog, we’ve made $352,447 total blogging.
