you need to create a pretty printable so the rest of us can adhere it to the inside of our cabinets, in front of our computers, etc. I was the same way you were. It took me 38 years to meet someone who didn't yell back at me or storm out on me. Before that relationships were very difficult and the big D happened more than once in my life. I agree with you about modeling....coming from a disfunctional family is the key. We all have to realize that children learn what they see, not what they are told and this post proves it more than anything else (for women, its USUALLY screaming though not always; unfortunately for men it results in abusive relationship..i do not intend to be sexist in this regard..there are exceptions everywhere; however, men are simply more phsyical about their pain and in some it rarely stops at yellling....the result of which are abused wives, dead wives or wives in prison for murder for defending themselves - that number is shocking).

See why i could never blog? i am wayyy too winded lol

Love, love, love this post. As a yeller I never even thought about what it did to my husband. After having kids I think about what it does to them and how I want them to be stronger and better than me. Thank you!

My problem was the opposite. I was raised in a family in which no one yelled. Ever. So when I married someone who thought yelling was the way to handle anger, I was devastated. "How could he yell at me like that?" I felt that no one who loved you would EVER yell at you. Therefore these episodes left me feeling hurt and unloved.

Fight fair. Consider how your yelling may impact the other person.
