7 months pregnant, 2 year old running everywhere, buying and moving into our very first house. It’s been crazy, to say the least. But, boy, has it also been fun! Moving from a tiny apartment to a 3 bedroom house with a yard, my two year old FINALLY has space to RUN! We’ve also been having tons of fun meeting our new neighbors! With the holiday’s coming up we wanted to do something special for them but I had to keep it simple since life is still pretty hectic. We decided to make a simple, yet sweet, gift baskets.
All you need to do is:
- Whip up some cookies.
- Buy some adorable little spatulas (everyone always needs more spatulas!) and some delicious holiday nog (buy extra so you can sip some too). You’ll want an Original Nog and a Vanilla Nog for each basket.
- Buy (or find around the house) a cute basket and throw some tissue paper in it and finish it off with a bow.
Have the kids help you bake the cookies! Enjoy International Delight’s Nog while you bake or my personal favorite their NEW! Milk Hot Chocolate (they also have a NEW! Dark Hot Chocolate if that’s more your flavor).
We made mini cookie bites because they seem more festive! We use any good chocolate chip cookie recipe but add a little extra flour (helps them keep their shape instead of flattening).
Then we enlist everyone’s help rolling the little one inch dough balls.
Note: Since they are smaller, their cooking time is shorter — so watch your oven closely!
Let them cool then find a cute little disposable plate you can give them on. Wrap it with saran wrap, add it to your gift basket, and then grab your troops and head to your neighbors front door!
This holiday be the reason for the smile on your neighbors face, whether you’ve lived next door for just a few weeks or for several years.

Back in the day when New Neighbors moved in . It was customary for the old neighbors to welcome the new ones with cakes, cookies and other goodies…. They knew you were overwhelmed with moving into a new home. What Happened to that?
I wished I lived close to you so I could help out.
Thanks for sharing this recipe I am going to have to try it for I also have new neighbors across the way.
Ciao for now ….
