Pregnant!
The pregnancy test reads positive. You’ve been waiting for it! Now that you see it you’re overwhelmed by so many emotions you don’t even know what to think. You’re excited, thrilled, nervous, and scared all at the same time. If you’re anything like me you’re now busy researching as much as you can. I researched A LOT but when baby came I was still caught off guard with a few things, so I thought I would share them with you! 7 baby tips you haven’t heard, ones you’ll be glad you don’t have to learn the hard way. {Thanks Munchkin for sponsoring this post and inspiring me to share these tips!}
7 Baby Tips Nobody Told You
1. Every baby is different — which means there is no one size fits all answer. As a new mom, it’s good to seek advice from others and research the best ways to do things but remember there are times when you’ll have to trust your instincts, you have them for a reason.
2. Invest in good bottles — I had to learn this one the hard way! I didn’t know the difference between a good and bad bottle when I started and trying different ones out added unneeded stress. Save yourself a headache and start with a good one right off the bat. I recommend the Munchkin LATCH bottle because it’s designed to help you reach your breastfeeding goals. Breastfeeding is a learning curve for both baby and you, you want a bottle that mimics the breast and doesn’t gush milk. This eases baby’s transition from breast to bottle and back.
Having a good bottle is one less thing you’ll have to worry about, especially when you have to leave baby with somebody else.
3. There ARE things you can do for colic — if you have a baby that is usually fussy you’ll more than likely have someone tell you there’s nothing you can do. I disagree, I think there’s always something you can do. Here are some questions to ask yourself.
- Is it just fussiness or is something wrong?
- Could my baby have a food sensitivity? For many fussiness is reduced by simply cutting dairy out of the nursing moms diet.
- Does your baby have proper latch to your breast? Have a lactation consultant help show you proper technique. If the problem persists, things like tongue-tie could be interfering.
- When bottle feeding, is your bottle causing air bubbles? The LATCH bottle we talked about above is a simple way to reduce colic. It has a anti-colic valve, located at the bottom of the bottle, which allows for breast milk to flow while ensuring air bubbles don’t travel through, reducing gas and fussiness. {The Munchkin LATCH bottle is also BPA free!}
4. Ditch the purse — and merge your stuff in with the diaper bag. I promise you won’t want to tote anything extra around with you, when you have a baby in tow.
5. Try a backpack for your diaper bag — I have to give credit to my friend for this one! I had never thought to use a backpack until I saw her using one! It frees up both hands for you to take care of baby. And speaking of freeing up hands, baby carriers are an excellent investment as well!
6. Don’t forget to take time for yourself — have daddy watch the baby for a minute while you take a bath, or even just a quick shower to help you feel refreshed. It’s easy to forget about ourselves when there’s a tiny little life that’s begging for our attention. Recharging here and there is going to help us be more energized for baby.
7. It’s ok to use a pacifier — Being a mom is hard and having a tool that helps give you a little extra sanity is good. Introduce a Munchkin pacifier after baby’s learned a good nursing latch.

Yup. That’s what you get. I will never buy anything else. LOVE these bottles. Went through a lot of different ones during first few months and then found these.
