Being a new mom is SUPER exciting! It’s also SUPER exhausting and hard. Having the right items on hand can really help your sanity, here are 5 things to make sure you never run out of!
5 Things Every New Mom Should Always Have on Hand
1. Lots and Lots of Snacks –especially if you’re breastfeeding, but even if you’re not babies are exhausting and moms need fuel too!
2. Water, Water, Water — if you’re breastfeeding, keep a water bottle next to you and make sure to drink water during each feed. I love adding frozen fruit to my water in place of ice occasionally to give my water a nice light flavoring (a drop of a 100% pure Lemon Essential Oil is great for variation as well).
3. Lots and lots of diapers (and wipes!)— and I mean LOTS! It’s amazing how many diapers a little tiny baby can through in a single day!
Sam’s Club® has great everyday savings on several popular diaper brands like Huggies diapers and more.
Note: I also recommend looking into the Diaper Genie! I didn’t have one with my daughter but next time around I definitely want to to give it and Diaper Genie Refills a try! It seems like such an easy and smart way to keep your house smelling sweet and fresh and it says it can hold 270 diapers! Not that you want to store that many dirty diapers at a time, but it’s nice to know you can.
4. Freezer Meals — life gets busy with a newborn but even still dinner has to be eaten! Before baby arrives I highly recommend stocking up your freezer with as many freezer meals as it fits, that way you have go-to meals when for those rougher days. If baby’s already here and you’re staring at an empty freezer, don’t fret! Next time you cook, make double and TA-DA you already have 1 freezer meal ready to go whenever you need it!
5. Toiler Paper — so this one sounds really silly but it’s just as important as the rest! I remember nearly running out of toilet paper after my daughter arrived and the last thing I wanted to do was run to the store. Thankfully a friend of mine picked some up for me and dropped it by!
Almost everything on this list can easily be picked up at Sam’s Club. I love the ease of just swinging into one store, especially in those early days when I had a tiny baby in tow. That benefit alone is easily worth the $45 membership (not to mention I’ve saved well over that on everything I’ve purchased there! Win-win!).
I always pick up my non-baby items while I’m there too, things for the entire family like groceries and miscellaneous household stuff.
2 Mommy Survival Shopping Tips
1. Park near the cart return — even if it’s not the closest spot. That way you can grab a cart right away (I was bucket my daughter in right there in the parking lot) and returning the cart is easy when you’re done unloading your groceries.
2. I also just recently learned about Club Pickup and can’t wait to give it a try! You can completely your order online for pickup and receive a text when your order is ready, and apparently you can even save shopping lists online for easy repeat purchases. OR another option to consider is having it shipped to your home. I know Sam’s Club, for example, offers free standard shipping on most diapers and wipes so you can spend more time at home snuggling with your new little baby!
